No longer is CBD the most exciting cannabinoid available. New and innovative cannabinoids are showing up seemingly every day. Retailers are all abuzz today with Delta 8 products, HHC, and more.
What is HHC?
HHC, or hydroxyhexahydrocannabinol, is a cannabinoid that comes for hemp via a clean manufacturing process. It is a hydrogenated compound that binds to various receptors besides the regular hemp cannabinoids, like Delta 8 products. Through the saturation of the molecule with hydrogen atoms, this cannabinoid has a much longer shelf life. HHC does occur naturally, but only in trace amounts. Thus, to sell HHC, companies must manufacture it in a lab.
What is Delta 8?
Delta 8 THC, or Delta 8 tetrahydrocannabinol, is a chemical that occurs naturally in trace amounts in hemp plants. Delta 8 is a psychoactive cannabinoid, similar to the Delta 9 compound that causes the high in marijuana. It can be extracted from both cannabis and hemp. While not as potent as Delta 9, Delta 8 products have been reported to produce some of the same effects, such as happiness and euphoria.
How Do Delta 8 and HHC Compare?
Delta 8 produces a high that is subtle and smooth. The high from HHC is very similar but much less potent. Both products are considered safe, though research is limited. Which is better really comes down to user preference. If you are still unsure which product is right for you, contact Lucy J’s and we will be happy to answer any of the questions you may have.
